First Year America

For families

Close, even from thousands of miles away.

Sending someone you love to study in America is a big step for the whole family. We help your student build a stable life — and, when they choose, keep you informed about the things that matter.

How family updates work

Connection is a choice, not a default.

Your student invites you to a separate family account and decides, one category at a time, what you can see. Everything starts private.

Updates a student can choose to share

  • Arrival confirmationWhether you've arrived safely, and the date.
  • Housing setupYour housing status and housing task progress — not your address.
  • Food arrangementsMeal plan or cooking setup and food task progress.
  • Selected school datesOnly school dates you mark “share with family”.
  • Travel and break plansOnly travel dates you mark “share with family”, plus break-planning progress.
  • Completed setup milestonesTitles of tasks you've finished.
  • Setup progressWhich Setup Center items are booked or done, like your phone or airport ride. No notes or details.
  • Emergency contactsThe contacts you saved in your portal.

Never shared with families

  • Support conversations with their coordinator
  • Private documents
  • Internal notes
  • Location

Students can change or revoke access at any time, and it takes effect immediately. Information a family member already viewed can't be taken back, so students choose carefully.

Questions families ask

What to expect.

Can I sign up for my student?+

Your student creates their own account and invites you. That keeps them in control of what's shared — which matters for trust in both directions.

Will I know if something goes wrong?+

You'll see the updates your student shares, such as arrival confirmation and emergency contacts. We're not an emergency service and don't monitor students around the clock. In an emergency in the US, call 911.

Can I talk to the coordinator?+

Every package includes family updates your student approves. Contact us to talk about your situation.

Help your student start steady.

Your student builds their plan and invites you when they're ready.
